Garrett County Public Safety Mobile Command Unit

In 2005, Garrett County put it's Mobile Command/ Communications Unit into service. The Unit, which was purchased through a Department of Homeland Security grant, was custom built for Garrett County and will greatly; enhance the communications capability for all public safety departments in the county during a disaster. The communications area is equipped with a Zetron radio console capable of alerting all Fire and EMS stations and has the capability of communications with MSP, GC Sheriff, and State Highway as well as other regional units. There is also a conference area for command staff, a multi-line telephone system, audio/video with satellite feed, weather monitoring equipment and emergency lighting. The unit can be powered from commercial sources or by the on-board generator and battery system.
