Garrett County Haz-Mat Training

Garrett County Public Safety Conducted a mock Haz-Mat Drill involving a chemical trailer crashing into a school bus. All local Haz-Mat teams were involved in the excericise. Those including Oakland, Grantsville, and Eastern Garrett Fire Departments. Also Allegany Haz-mat team weas involved.The goal of the excercise was to gather the first responding departsment and critique an actual incident involving a hazardous chemical.

The Scenario for the drill was a plane that was forced to make a hard landing with the possibilty of a terrorist and a hazardous material on board the plane: It was put on by the Garrett County Emergency Management with assistance from MIEMSS, MFRI, WVU, Garrett County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, Garrett Memorial Hospital and Garrett College.
