Welcome to Garrett County Airport (2G4)

Garrett County Airport is a General Aviation Airport surrounded by the scenic mountains of Western Maryland. The airport enhances the region's tourist industry and provides emergency air service evacuation and landing facilities for General Aviation.

Garrett County Airport is an essential element in the national and statewide transportation network and plays a large role in the economic development of Garrett County. Garrett County Airport generates business revenue because of air passenger service, freight service and ground support services for commercial and general aviation.  Garrett County Government owns and operates the airport.

From a small grass airstrip in the 1940’s to a current modern day general aviation airport, it is now easier to fly in and out of Garrett County, thanks to the lengthening of the runway to 5,000 feet and the associated improvements. Garrett County Airport is a public-use general aviation airport located between the small towns of Accident and McHenry, Maryland with nearby Deep Creek Lake and its many resorts. The airport’s primary use is for recreational and business activities, providing resources such as flight school and sightseeing flights highlighting Deep Creek Lake. The airport supports the military, law enforcement, Department of Natural Resources and Civil Air Patrol. The Garrett County Airport’s recreational uses are for Deep Creek Lake tourism, hunting, fishing, white water rafting and recreational flying. When flying into Western Maryland you will encounter a charming bit of serendipity of the small towns within Garrett County. The beautiful county and its distinctive four seasons draw tourism year-round and a newly upgraded airport should help fuel the traffic and meet the needs of the escalating air traffic.

Pilots and travelers can now enjoy the airport’s new terminal complete with a lobby waiting area, handicapped-accessible restrooms, pilot’s lounge and planning room; which includes an Automated Weather Observation System, internet service, and a phone for filing flight plans. Traveling to Garrett County Airport is more enjoyable because of the modifications to the airport. With a great area to explore and numerous activities, arriving will not be a problem but departures may cause heartaches.

Garrett County is growing and to keep up with the escalation of businesses within the County, this newly renovated airport will better serve those needs.
