Planning and Land Development Home

The Planning & Land Development Office consists of two separate divisions: the Planning, Zoning & Licensing Division as well as the Permits and Inspection Division. The Planning, Zoning and Licensing Division handles all questions concerning zoning, licensing issues, subdivision, comprehensive planning, sensitive area regulations, land preservation, mapping, and census data. The Permits and Inspection Division handles all questions concerning building code administration, stormwater management, entrance permits, and sediment & erosion control. 
 

Planning, Zoning and Licensing

This office regulates Zoning Administration, Subdivision Administration, Licensing Issues, Land Preservation, Sensitive Area Regulation, Comprehensive Planning and Mapping Services. For more information on these departments, click on the sidebar links to the left.

The primary function of the Office of Planning & Land Development is to:
  • maintain, update and implement the County's Comprehensive Development Plan with the direction of the County Planning Commission

  • prepare studies and assist the County Commissioners in developing policies with regard to land use, transportation, population forecasts (Census) and proposed regulations.

  • review re-zoning requests and

  • coordinate with State, local and Federal agencies to fulfill implementation of policies and funding opportunities.
