Airport

Garrett County Airport is a General Aviation Airport surrounded by the scenic mountains of Western Maryland. Located between the small towns of Accident and McHenry, Maryland, the Garrett County Airport has grown into a modern, public-use, general aviation airport with a 5,000 feet long runway from it's start as a small grass airstrip in the 1940’s. The airport’s primary use is for recreational and business activities, providing resources such as flight school and sightseeing flights highlighting Deep Creek Lake. The airport also supports the military, law enforcement, and Department of Natural Resources and Civil Air Patrol. Pilots and travelers can enjoy the airport’s terminal complete with a lobby waiting area, handicapped-accessible restrooms, pilot’s lounge, and planning room; which includes an Automated Weather Observation System, internet service, and a phone for filing flight plans.

The airport is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and features one runway 270 and 090, 75 feet wide with PAPI’s and REIL’s. Employees of the Garrett County Government operate Garrett County Airport. Services provided at the airport include: Jet A with additives, 100 LL, oil, 18 tie down spaces for transit aircrafts, pilot supplies, internet weather service, phone, and rental car services.
