Over the past few years, there have been many projects and changes occurring at the Airport. These include; the extension of the runway to 5,000 feet with a parallel taxiway, the construction of a new terminal building, as well as twelve new T-Hangars. The new T-Hangars are fully occupied and plans are currently being made to construct another twelve in the near future. The runway is complete and being used on a regular basis. The extension of the runway to the now 5,000 feet allows larger aircraft to fly in and out of Garrett County Airport. The new terminal building, which is handicap-accessible, offers a comfortable place for pilots to develop their flight plans and relax after their flight in the pilots lounge. Travelers can enjoy the new terminal complete with a snack room and comfortable lobby area. In an effort to keep up with today’s airport security needs and to protect the wild life, a 10-foot high fence surrounds the airport.
The airport is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and features one runway 270 and 090, 75 feet wide with PAPI’s and REIL’s. Employees of the Garrett County Government operate Garrett County Airport. Services provided at the airport include; Jet A with additives, 100 LL, oil, 18 tie down spaces for transit aircrafts, pilot supplies, internet weather service, phone and rental car services.

Garrett County is growing and to keep up with the escalation of businesses within the County, this renovated airport will better serve the needs of the County and enhance the region’s tourist industry.
