The Tri–County Council of Western Maryland, Inc. (TCC) is a regional planning and economic development agency representing Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties.
TCC works to enhance the quality of economic development in the tri–county region and strengthen relationships among its local governments and receives planning assistance funds from the federal Economic Development Administration and the Appalachian Regional Commission to administer regional economic development programs.

The Council's program for direct business assistance and enterprise development provides a variety of business financing tools and technical assistance. Local government aid focuses on grants writing and technical assistance, database resources, regional education, and intergovernmental cooperation.
Twenty-six members comprise the Council. From each county, two County Commissioners, the Economic Development Director, two mayors, and two private citizens serve on the Council. The House of Delegates’ delegation chairs from Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties and the Western Maryland’s two State Senators also serve on the Council.
Meetings are held three times each year with one meeting held in each of the three counties.
Annually, the Council submits its proposed program and operating budget for the next fiscal year to the Maryland Department of Commerce.

GARRETT COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT APPEALS BOARD – 1 Position - Full Member
The Garrett County Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board is composed of three (3) regular members plus one (1)alternate with 5-year term limits – Appointed by the Governor.
In accordance with Tax Property Article § 3-103 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the Board of County Commissioners will submit a list of three (3) nominations for each vacancy for the Governor’s consideration in making these appointments. Interested individuals in serving on the Garrett County Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board are asked to contact the Board of County Commissioners for consideration of appointment.
A primary duty of the GC Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board is review property tax assessment appeals.

ADULT GUARDIANSHIP REVIEW BOARD – GC – 1 Position – Local Citizen Rep.
The Garrett County Adult Guardianship Review Board is comprised of 9 members mandated by the State (attorney rep., a local non-profit Social Services agency professional rep., a physician and psychiatrist, two local citizen rep., a rep. from the local Office on Aging, public health nurse, a GC Department of Social Services rep.). Three-year term limits
The primary duty of the Garrett County Adult Guardianship Review Board shall be to safeguard the welfare of persons with disabilities. The Garrett County Adult Guardianship Review Board reviews guardianship cases and makes recommendations to the Court to either continue, modify, or terminate guardianship of the person.
