The Garrett County Department of Solid Waste & Recycling announces that there will be a limited opportunity for additional agricultural tire recycling beginning Friday, July 19, 2013. Collection boxes will be placed at Sam's Agway, Grantsville Ag Service, and the Oakland Southern States. The program will last until Monday, July 29, 2013 or until the containers are full.
Acceptable tires are tires used on Maryland farms including tractor, truck, and equipment tires. The tires will be accepted with rims or without. Significant mud, manure, and water must be removed prior to delivery.
Participants should plan on bringing any help necessary to unload the tires with them. Participants will also be required to stack the tires into the containers to help maximize the number that can be recycled.
Tires can be dropped off during each location's normal business hours and participants are required to check with store staff prior to unloading. It is important to remember that the store owners have volunteered to help with this effort and participants should make every effort to cooperate.
