GC Solid Waste & Recycling Announces Ten Year Plan

The Garrett County Department of Solid Waste & Recycling announces that work has begun on the next Ten Year Solid Waste Management Plan. (2014-2024).The current ten year plan will expire later this year. The new plan will require approval from The Maryland Department of the Environment followed by a public hearing, and formal adoption by the Garrett County Board of Commissioners. The majority of the changes to the plan will be related to the changes and amendments that have taken place over the last 10 years. The most up to date information on operations, costs, and future plans will also be included in the new plan.
The draft plan will be sent to the Maryland Department of the Environment in February 2014 and once approved, a public hearing and review period will be scheduled allowing the opportunity for formal public comment.
Interested citizens are encouraged to review the current plan on the Garrett County Web-site at under the Solid Waste & Recycling tab.
