Norma Hesen has worked for the Red Cross for many years.  In 1957, she became the Chairperson for the Blood Mobile for the County until 1990. 
 
She served on the Garrett County Memorial Hospital Board of Directors from 1974 to 1992.
 
Ms. Hesen was very conscience of the need for Life Guards at our local state parks.  She scheduled and organized Red Cross Life Guard training and classes so that our students would be able to have summer jobs at our State Parks while also providing a much needed service. 
 
Ms. Hesen also volunteers for Southern Garrett County High School Band and has helped raise funds for their uniforms and trips.  For five years she organized the Autumn Glory Turkey Dinners at Southern.
 
Ms. Hesen is truly a beautiful and giving person.
