The Board of Garrett County Commissioners will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday March 5th 2013 at 10:00 AM, in the County Commissioners meeting room 209, Courthouse Annex, Oakland, Maryland. The Board will review and receive comment on the proposed amendments to the current Ten Year Solid Waste Management Plan for Garrett County.
In accordance with Maryland Department Of The Environment regulations Maryland Counties are required to conduct a public hearing prior to amending their 10 year Solid Waste Management Plans . A proposed amendment that would formally adopt the current plans and methods for recycling in public schools, recycling fluorescent light bulbs, and recycling electronics will be discussed and there will be an opportunity for public comment. State law requires counties to have a plan that has been formally adopted. Copies of the language contained in the amendment and the proposed resolution will be available for public review at the following locations: The Ruth Enlow Library located in Oakland, Maryland; the County Commissioners offices at the Courthouse; and the Solid Waste and Recycling office located at the Garrett County Landfill at 3118 Oakland Sang Run Road, Oakland, Maryland. The Board welcomes public comments in writing prior to the hearing or verbally at the hearing.
