First Energy has been working diligently to reduce power outages throughout the County.   Current outages are at 59%, which is down from the 85% reported earlier today. 

Debris removal will continue throughout the evening.  Garrett County Roads Department, State Highway Administration, Department of Natural Resources and the National Guard have been working around the clock to clear roadways. 

Search and Rescue efforts are underway and will continue as needed.  Four county-wide divisions have been designated.  Each division consists of a division supervisor and 3 task forces comprised of law enforcement, EMS, National Guard and saw teams.  

Garrett County through the Maryland Department of Human Resources has established a toll free line to report non-life threatening issues.  Please contact the Community Help Line for information and assistance.

County managed shelters currently open at the following locations:
  • Southern Rescue Squad- 200 Baltimore Avenue; Mt. Lake Park;
  • Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department- Corner of Walnut Street & Park Street; Friendsville.
