Revised Erosion & Sediment Control Ordinance - January 17, 2013

Last Updated on Jan 17, 2013 at 11:28am | Permits & Inspection Division

The Garrett County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on February 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room, 203 South Fourth Street, Oakland, MD.  The purpose of the meeting is to review and take public comment on the proposed re-adoption of the County’s revised Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance.

In January of 2012, the Code of Maryland Regulations, COMAR 26.17.01, was revised to reflect modifications to erosion and sediment control regulations and the incorporation of the 2011 Maryland Standards and Specifications for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control.  The revisions include: 1) implementation of more stringent stabilization requirements; 2) establishment of grading unit criteria; and 3) implementation of a comprehensive plan review process that parallels the Stormwater Management Act of 2007.  The purpose of this action is to update the County’s current Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance to reflect changes from COMAR 26.17.01.

Copies of the draft ordinance are available at the County Permits & Inspections Office, 2008 Maryland Highway, Suite 3, Mtn. Lake Park, MD, Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and at the County’s website, www.garrettcounty.org. Interested citizens are welcome to attend.
