Carpenter Earns MD Association of Counties Award

January 9, 2019, Oakland, MD – Deborah Carpenter, Garrett County Director of Planning and Land Management, has been awarded the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Recognition Award for her work in support of issues important to Maryland counties.
 
This award recognizes legislators or state officials for outstanding legislative effort and advocacy on behalf of county needs and interests.
 
Ms. Carpenter has been working on land-use issues in Garrett County and throughout the state, and also represents MACo on the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission. Carpenter was presented the award by MACo President Jerry Walker at the MACo Winter Conference Awards Banquet on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel on Cambridge, Maryland.

“Debbie has been a critical asset to the Garrett County Government team and we are proud of her and accomplishments in earning this award,” said Garrett County Administrator Kevin Null.
 
The Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) is a non-profit and non-partisan organization that serves Maryland’s counties by articulating the needs of local government to the Maryland General Assembly. The Association’s membership consists of county elected officials and representatives from Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City.
 
Garrett County Government is governed by an elected Board of County Commissioners exercising powers as are conferred by the General Assembly of Maryland. The administration of the County is centralized with the County Administrator responsible for overseeing the financial planning, annual budget process, personnel management, and direction and management of operations within the organization.
