Press Release - Garrett County Department of Solid Waste & Recycling Improvements
Press Release

The Garrett County Department of Solid Waste & Recycling Announces the expansion of recycling at the Landfill
Recent improvements at the Garrett County Landfill have expanded recycling and make it easier. Cardboard is now placed in a compactor eliminating the need for hand stacking and breaking down boxes. The increased volume in the cardboard box will also save on transportation costs. The improvements also added collection containers so that additional recyclables including oil filters, electronics, #1 plastic and # 2 plastic are now accepted.
Free recycling of items generated in Garrett County by County residents and businesses now includes: cardboard, newspaper, magazines, office paper, mixed metal, aluminum cans, glass, used motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, #1 plastic, #2 plastic, and electronics. Both residential and commercial customers are encouraged to take advantage of free recycling during the winter operating hours of 8am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday and 8am to 12 noon on Saturdays.
