On July 1, 2019, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) began repairs on a 100-foot section of U.S. 50 (George Washington Highway) east of Redhouse in Table Rock. Repair work is anticipated to be completed on August 2, 2019.
In late June, a severe thunderstorm that produced more than six inches of rain in just over an hour, washed out a section of U.S. 50. Since then, MDOT SHA officials have evaluated the damage, developed an engineering plan, and procured a contractor to make the repairs.
During the work, through travelers will use U.S. 219 (Garrett Highway) to MD 135 (Maryland Highway) and MD 560 (Gorman Road).
Residents will have access to their homes directly up to the point of the closure (Detour:

Approximately 1,300 motorists use this section of U.S. 50 each day and are encouraged to add extra travel time..
