Electronics Recycling

Residents and businesses of Garrett County are invited to participate in the Electronics Recycling program free of charge. Electronics are accepted at the Bumble Bee, Grantsville, Kings Run, and Garrett Highway refuse and recycling sites.  The hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.;Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Electronics materials are now also being accepted at the Garrett County Landfill.  The Summer hours of operation are Monday - Saturday, 8:00 - 3:30 p.m.;
The following items will be accepted for recycling at all four refuse & recycling sites:

Answering machines, Cables/Cords, Calculators, Camcorders, Cash Registers, CD Burners, CD Players, Cell phones, Computers, Copiers, DVD Players, Digital cameras, Docking Stations,  Electronic Toys, Electric typewriters, Electric Wire, FAX machines, Hard Drives, iPhones, Keyboard/Mouse/Peripherals, Kindels/Notebooks, Laptops, MP3/iPod/etc, Monitors, Medical Electronics, Network hardware, PDA’s, Pagers, Peripherals, Phone systems, Power Supplies, Printers, Projectors, Projection equipment, Plotters, Remote controls, Servers, Scanners, Speakers Stereos,  Software, Security equipment, Tape players, TV’s, Telephones, Two-way radios, Tape drives, Telecommunication equipment, UPS Systems, VCR's, Video Game Consoles, Zip Drives.

We are pleased that small televisions are once again acceptable in the Electronics Recycling program.  However, the T.V. screens must measure 19" diagonally or less; the televisions with old-style tubes or cabinets will not be accepted. Unfortunately, due to the high cost of recycling televisions, we are only permitted by our processor to accept the first 30 TV's that are put in the electronics recycling container.  This policy will be followed at each site accepting electronics for recycling:  Bumble Bee, Grantsville, Kings Run and Garrett Highway refuse & recycling sites. Please contact the office prior to delivering a TV to one of these sites to check on availability status.

Appliances are not accepted in the Electronics Recycling Program, however may be disposed of at the refuse & recycling sites with a $5 bulk item sticker, with the exception of appliances that had or currently have Freon (i.e. air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers and dehumidifiers).  These appliances are accepted for disposal at the Garrett County Landfill for a $10 fee.
If you have any questions regarding the Electronics Recycling program or would like to check on a specific electronics material for recycling, please contact Kimberly Madigan, Recycling Coordinator at 301-387-0322 or visit
