Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fee

Senate Bill 320 in the 2004 Maryland Legislative Session enacted the Bay Restoration Fee. The bill required that each property owner pay an annual $30 fee for EACH habitable dwelling that is located on his/her property and connected to his/her sewage disposal (septic) system(s). House Bill 446 in the 2012 Maryland Legislative Session doubled the Bay Restoration Fee from $30.00 to $60.00 annually for properties whose onsite sewage disposal system (septic system) is located within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and for properties that are connected to either a public water and/or sewer system and whose wastewater is treated by a wastewater facility that discharges in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
