Health Officer - Garrett County Health Department

PROGRAM MANAGER SENIOR II (Non-Physician)

This position serves as the Health Officer, an executive level position in the Garrett County Health Department.  The Health Officer plans, directs and administers all aspects of activities and operations of Garrett County Health Department. including establishing and overseeing overall policies and procedures, program goals and plans.

This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. The Board of County Commissioners of Garrett County shall select a Health Officer and make recommendations for appointment to the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene of the State of Maryland.  This is a State of Maryland position.

Qualified candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Public Health with two years’ managerial experience in public health or at least five years’ experience in the field of public health, or Master’s Degree and five (5) years’ work experience in the field of public health.

Preference will be given to a public health professional with a senior leadership background, executive management experience, and a master’s degree.
